If you are checking the solar panel price in Lahore, you are shopping in the busiest rooftop solar region in the country. LESCO, which serves Lahore and four nearby districts, reported 135,837 active net-metering connections and about 2,053 MW of connected solar as of May 2026, the highest of any DISCO. The live rates above show what A-grade plates cost today. This guide turns those rates into full system budgets, walks through the LESCO net billing file, and explains how Lahore’s smog season changes what your roof produces.

Solar panel market in Lahore: Hall Road and beyond
Ask any Lahori where to buy plates and the answer is Hall Road. The road has been Lahore’s electronics and appliance hub for decades, and today it is also the city’s main cluster of solar panel and inverter traders. Most of the solar panel prices in Lahore that dealers quote around the city start from Hall Road rates and add delivery and fitting on top.
Hall Road is not the only option, and it is not always the cheapest once you count transport and your own time.
| Buying route | Best for | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Hall Road trader | Comparing several brands in one afternoon, buying a full set of plates | Busy, little time for checks, you arrange fitting |
| Installer from your own area | Turnkey system with LESCO paperwork | Plate price includes a margin |
| Company showroom or EPC firm | Larger homes, factories, warranty handling | Highest quote, usually the cleanest work |
| Used panel sellers | Small backup systems on a tight budget | No warranty, unknown degradation |
A quick tip for Hall Road: go in the morning, carry a list of two or three models you want, and ask each shop for the price per watt as well as the price per plate. Right now the cheapest 580 W plate is Rs 24,505 and the cheapest 585 W plate is Rs 23,400, so you can see straight away whether a quote is sensible.
| Model | Watt | Price per panel | Per watt | This week | Trend |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jinko Tiger Neo N-typeN-type TOPCon | 580 W | Rs 24,505 | Rs 42.3 | No change |
Inverters and batteries on Hall Road
The same shops that sell plates also stock hybrid inverters, lithium batteries, breakers and cable, so many buyers pick up the whole kit in one trip. That saves money only if you know what to ask for:
- Check that the inverter’s maximum PV input voltage suits your string of plates. Long strings of high-wattage N-type panels can exceed cheaper inverters’ limits on cold January mornings.
- Ask whether the inverter carries the UL 1741 grid standard that NEPRA’s prosumer rules refer to, if you plan to apply for net billing.
- Buy DC cable by brand and gauge, not by the roll price. Thin cable on a long run to the roof costs you units every day.
- Keep every bill. LESCO’s application asks for equipment details, and warranty claims need proof of purchase.

Solar system installation cost in Lahore
Putting a solar panel in Lahore on your roof costs more than the plates alone. Most homes here go for a 5 kW system on a one-kanal or ten-marla roof, while ten-kilowatt systems are common in bigger houses that run three or more inverter ACs. The panel cost below is calculated from today’s cheapest 585 W A-grade plate. Everything else is a market range checked as of October 2026.
| System | Plates needed | Panel cost today | Inverter, structure, wiring and labour |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 kW | 6 | Rs 140,400 | Rs 1,05,000 to 2,25,000 |
| 5 kW | 9 | Rs 210,600 | Rs 1,58,000 to 3,75,000 |
| 10 kW | 18 | Rs 421,200 | Rs 3,25,000 to 5,90,000 |
The wide range in the last column comes mostly from the inverter. A budget hybrid and a top-brand unit can differ by more than a lakh for the same size.
Lahore roofs and what they cost to fit
- Old city and inner Lahore houses are often narrow and tall, with small roofs shared with water tanks. Expect a raised frame and fewer plates than you would like.
- Newer housing societies usually have large flat roofs where a standard ground-level frame fits a 10 kW array easily.
- Shops and small factories with tin sheds need rail clamps made for sheet roofs, not concrete anchors.
- Many Lahore families add one floor every decade or so. If that is likely, use a structure that can be unbolted and moved.
Our solar panel installation cost guide breaks labour and fittings down line by line.
Net metering in Lahore: step by step with LESCO
Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Sheikhupura and Nankana Sahib are served by LESCO. Under NEPRA’s Prosumer Regulations 2026, every new solar connection in LESCO’s area is now on net billing. Exported units are paid at the national average energy purchase price set by NEPRA, while imported units are charged at your normal LESCO tariff and slab. Homes that signed net metering agreements before 9 February 2026 stay on the old one-for-one terms until their agreement ends.

Here is how a new file moves through LESCO:
- Confirm you have a three-phase connection and that your planned system does not exceed your sanctioned load. If not, apply for a load extension or three-phase meter first.
- Your installer prepares the standard application form, a single-line diagram and the panel and inverter details. Attach a copy of your bill and CNIC, plus ownership papers or the owner’s consent.
- Submit the file to LESCO through the channel your installer uses (LESCO’s website lists current options). LESCO must acknowledge it within 5 working days and tell you if anything is missing.
- LESCO completes a technical review within 15 working days. It can refuse if solar on your transformer has already reached 80% of the transformer’s capacity.
- Sign the interconnection agreement within 7 working days, then pay the demand notice for the meter and connection within 7 working days of receiving it.
- LESCO installs the bidirectional meter within 15 working days of payment and sends your file to NEPRA, which issues its concurrence after you pay the Rs 1,000 per kW fee.
| What you pay (as of October 2026) | Typical amount |
|---|---|
| NEPRA concurrence fee | Rs 1,000 per kW |
| Bidirectional meter and LESCO connection work | Rs 15,000 to 50,000, depending on size |
| Installer’s paperwork charge | Often bundled in the quote; ask |
What net billing means for a Lahore bill
Say your 5 kW system makes about 22 units on a clear April day and your house uses 15 of them while the sun is up. Those 15 units never touch the meter, so you save the full LESCO rate on each one, including the higher slab rates. The other 7 units go to the grid and are credited at the much lower NEPRA buyback rate. At night you import units at your normal tariff.
| Where the solar unit goes | What it is worth to you |
|---|---|
| Used in the house during the day | Full LESCO tariff plus taxes saved |
| Exported to LESCO | National average energy purchase price only |
| Stored in a battery and used at night | Full tariff saved, minus battery wear |
The lesson for Lahore homes is simple: run the washing machine, water pump, iron and AC in daylight, and size the system to that daytime load.
The 80% transformer limit matters more in Lahore than anywhere else, because whole streets in some societies already have solar. Ask LESCO or your installer to check your transformer early. Punjab residents should also look at our CM Punjab solar panel scheme page before paying full price.
Sun hours and solar output in Lahore
Lahore averages about 5.2 peak sun hours a day over the year, a little below Karachi and Multan. Two seasons pull output down: the July and August monsoon, and the smog months from November to January. The table below shows modelled output for a whole 5 kW system, using the European Commission’s PVGIS tool (ERA5 data) with panels facing south at 31 degrees and 14% losses.
| Month | 5 kW system, units in the month | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| January | 660 | Fog and smog mornings can cut this further |
| February | 645 | Clear days return late in the month |
| March | 750 | One of the best months |
| April | 745 | Strong output, panels still cool |
| May | 730 | Heat starts to trim efficiency |
| June | 645 | Very hot, pre-monsoon haze |
| July | 580 | Monsoon cloud |
| August | 580 | Monsoon cloud |
| September | 640 | Recovers as rain stops |
| October | 730 | Good, until crop burning haze begins |
| November | 680 | Smog season starts |
| December | 685 | Smog and shorter days |
That comes to roughly 8,000 units a year from 5 kW. Satellite-based models do not fully capture Lahore’s worst smog spells, so real December and January figures can come in lower. Smog also leaves a greasy film on glass, so wash panels weekly during smog season. Our solar panel cleaning guide covers how to do it without scratching the coating.
Summer heat and load-shedding
Lahore’s June afternoons regularly pass 40 degrees, and panels on a hot roof run far hotter than the air. Every panel loses a little output for each degree above 25 degrees, which is why May and June make less than March even with longer days. N-type TOPCon plates lose less in heat than older mono PERC plates, which is why most new Lahore quotes now offer them.
Load-shedding in most of urban Lahore is shorter than in many other DISCO areas, but feeders with high losses still see scheduled cuts. If your area has regular outages, choose a hybrid inverter, because a plain on-grid unit shuts down when LESCO supply goes off.
How to choose a solar installer in Lahore
Lahore has a huge number of solar installers, which keeps solar panels price Lahore quotes competitive but makes checking harder. Use this checklist before you pay an advance:

| Check | Why it matters in Lahore |
|---|---|
| Name on the PPIB (former AEDB) certified installer list | LESCO files and bank financing often ask for a certified vendor |
| Written brand, model and serial numbers | Stops a swap from tier-1 plates to cheaper stock bought on Hall Road |
| Structure drawing with height and anchoring | Raised frames on inner-city roofs must handle storms in May and June |
| Inverter warranty handled locally | Saves sending the unit back to a distributor yourself |
| Two or more references in Lahore | You can see a two-year-old job and talk to the owner |
| Clear split of LESCO costs | Demand notice and NEPRA fee should not be a surprise |
Red flags in Lahore quotes
- A price per watt for the full system that is far below everyone else’s. Something has been swapped or left out.
- “Net metering included” with no mention of net billing or the NEPRA fee. The installer may be working from old rules.
- No earthing pit in the quote. Lahore’s monsoon storms make proper earthing and a surge protector essential.
- Pressure to pay the full amount before delivery of plates.

Lahore vs other cities: price difference
Plate prices in Lahore are close to Karachi’s because Hall Road traders restock often and competition is fierce. What changes from city to city is installation, utility process and how much the sun gives back.
| Item | Lahore | Karachi | Islamabad and Rawalpindi |
|---|---|---|---|
| Panel price | Close to national rate | Often the lowest | Similar, plus a small freight add-on |
| Installer competition | Very high | High | Moderate |
| Utility | LESCO | K-Electric | IESCO |
| Yearly units per kW | About 1,610 | About 1,720 | About 1,600 |
| Main local issue | Smog and dense transformers | Salt air | Monsoon storms and hail |
The solar panel price in Lahore Pakistan buyers pay therefore depends more on the inverter and the installer than on the plates. Compare with the Karachi page, or go back to the solar panel price in Pakistan home page for national rates.
Frequently asked questions
What is the solar panel price in Lahore today?
The cheapest A-grade 585 W plate is currently around Rs 20,520, and the live table on this page lists other brands and wattages. Lahore prices track the national market closely because Hall Road traders restock often.
Are solar panel prices on Hall Road cheaper than elsewhere in Lahore?
Usually the plate price is a little lower on Hall Road because traders buy in bulk and compete hard. Once you add transport, testing and fitting, an installer's all-in quote can end up close, so compare total system prices rather than plate rates alone.
Which DISCO handles solar net billing in Lahore?
LESCO handles applications for Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Sheikhupura and Nankana Sahib. New applications follow NEPRA's Prosumer Regulations 2026, which replaced unit-for-unit net metering with net billing.
Is net metering still available in Lahore?
Homes that signed their agreement before 9 February 2026 keep their old net metering terms until the agreement expires. New connections are on net billing, where exported units earn a lower NEPRA-set rate and imported units are billed at the normal LESCO tariff.
How many units does a 5 kW solar system make in Lahore?
Roughly 8,000 units a year, or about 670 a month on average. March and April are the best months, while the monsoon and the smog season from November to January bring output down.
Does smog affect solar panels in Lahore?
Yes. Smog blocks part of the sunlight and leaves a sticky film on the glass, so output drops on hazy days. Washing panels weekly from November to January recovers most of the loss from dirt, though nothing can fix the haze itself.
What size solar system do most Lahore homes install?
A 5 kW system is the most common choice for a family home with one or two inverter ACs. Bigger houses running three or more ACs often go for 10 kW, provided the sanctioned load and roof space allow it.
Do I need a three-phase meter for solar in Lahore?
For net billing, yes, because NEPRA's rules apply to three-phase 400 V or 11 kV connections. You can still install an off-grid or hybrid system on a single-phase connection, but you cannot export to LESCO.
